POSITION PURPOSE: This position will be responsible for assisting customers at the counter, which also includes the ability to communicate effectively with the customers and coworkers in the civil or criminal division as assigned. The incumbent is responsible for complete computer searches for relevant information identifiable with either subject or defendant. The incumbent is also responsible for identifying and collecting appropriate fines and costs for related court records and/or court cases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include, but are not limited to the following: Maintains regular attendance at work and is consistently on time. Must be able to be present at designated work site minimum of 40 hours per week, as established by supervisor. Number one priority is to assist customers/citizens at the counter for all filing inquires and questions. Accepts instruments relevant to civil and/or criminal cases Reviews the document for accuracy, completeness, appropriate style and case number. Receives and enters the relevant information into the court services data base system. Serves as Courtroom Clerk floater as needed to support retrieving of assigned dockets and related court files. Will assist as backup Courtroom Clerk as assigned Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: Possess one to three years of experience in a general clerical or administrative service and support capacity; or equivalent combination of education and training. Experience of county government and /or a County Court Clerk’s Office experience is highly preferred including a court services data base system
EDUCATION: High School graduate or G.E.D
