GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Work in partnership with the School Counselor and general education teachers to support a range of social, emotional, and behavioral interventions, and provide instructional and/or behavioral support to students under the direction of a School Counselor.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
Reports directly to the Building Principal
Supervised directly by the School Counselor

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Adheres and supports TCA philosophy in management of students.
  • Works with students in a one on one and small group setting to support the social emotional
  • Under the direction of the Counselor Supports students in social-emotional growth and mental wellness needs.
  • Assists counselor in multi-tiered supports for student interventions to include individual, small group, and whole class lessons in various learning environments
  • Intentionally and actively builds relationships with staff & students outside of the counseling office.
  • Assists counselor with the completion of paperwork related to management of 504 Plans
  • Supports teachers with classroom interventions such as check-in/check-out plans, transitions to specials, and in-class regulation breaks.
  • Acts as a liaison between and general education teacher and counselor to include relaying messages, input, and feedback on offered support & interventions.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities including role modeling, diffusing volatile and stressful situations, and following through on appropriate consequences per guidelines.
  • Attends pre-job training, on-going training, meetings and seminars as required during the school year in order to remain up to date of job procedures.
  • Consistently attends and reports for work on time
  • Attends team meetings when schedule allows or is required
  • Utilizes district provided CPI training appropriately and consistently.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists Counselors and general education teachers and paraprofessionals as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain and renew/maintain CPI, CPR and First Aid certification

EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, and parents.
  • Knowledge of TCA policies and procedures
  • Ability to use telephone, copier, computer, and other office/classroom support equipment
  • Ability to be flexible in work demands

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Typical demands will require employees to:
    • Frequently use eye, hand, and finger coordination to enable the use of a computer, other office equipment, and writing utensils
  • Spend majority of work hours standing and walking while performing job duties
  • Activities involve some bending, lifting, and carrying burdens weighing up to 50 lbs.

-PERA: Administered by Colorado PERA, this is a tax deferred retirement account to which you contribute 10% of your monthly earnings. TCA contributes 20.9% to the PERA pension trust fund on your behalf.
-VOLUNTARY VISION: EyeMed is the voluntary vision program available to TCA employees.
-WELLNESS PROGRAM: A voluntary wellness program though Orriant is offered in which employees are eligible to earn an incentive of up to $150 for participation with achievement of wellness activity goals

-TIME OFF COMPENSATION: A1.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employee is provided with Staff Leave and Personal Leave. IFor positions less than 1.0 FTE, your leave time will be prorated accordingly based on FTE. Our leave program is fully compliant with the Colorado Healthy Families Workplace Act.
-PRIORITY ENROLLMENT STATUS: Children of staff members .4 FTE and above receive priority enrollment of their child/children at The Classical Academy Charter School.
