The Prince George's County Government Department of Fire and Emergency Services (Fire/EMS) is seeking qualified applicants to fill the Counselor 3G(Counselor 3G) position, grade G24, within its FD Risk Management Division.
This is responsible professional lead and/or supervisory work providing services and assistance to client populations with problems in a range of areas (e.g., stress management, substance abuse, emotional, behavioral, or related problems). What You'll Do:
- Integrate innovative technologies into all aspects of care; Telehealth, Zoom, Microsoft Teams platforms.
- Provides short-term individual, family and/or group counseling for sworn, civilian and volunteer members with varying emotional and/or substance abuse problems.
- Conducts intake interviews, obtains a client history, determines client's strengths and weaknesses, and develops suitable treatment plans and goals.
- Provides crisis intervention to sworn, civilian and volunteer members.
- Provides services through telephonic or in-person counseling and office visits for assessment, referral and short-term counseling.
- Maintains case files with appropriate forms, evaluations, and other records of client progress. May assist center director in the compilation of various data, reports and forms.
- Assist with the development of training on behavioral health related subject matters.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, or Psychology Doctoral Level in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Upon selection, the candidate must:
Achieve a passing score on the National Counselors Examination of the National Board for Certified Counselors and the State Law Test; andA candidate placed in this classification must be licensed as a Graduate Professional Counselor by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.01.09, (Maryland Department of Health General Licensure Information).
Must possess one of the following licenses/certifications:
LCPC: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
LGPC: Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
LCADC: Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor
LGADC: Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor
LCSW-C: Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical
LCSW: Licensed Certified Social Worker
LMSW: Licensed Masters Social Worker
LCP: Licensed Clinical Psychologist
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
