About this Position: 

This role provides high quality, proactive customs & trade, environmental, health & safety (EHS), hazardous materials, workers' compensation, utilities, corporate social responsibility and local operations legal support and advice on a timely and cost-effective basis to a variety of Honda business teams to help achieve and maintain compliance and minimize legal risks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Legal Advice and Services: Provide high quality legal services and advice in the areas of customs & trade, EHS, hazardous materials, workers' compensation, utilities, corporate social responsibility, and laws impacting local operations in a timely and cost-effective manner, to enable the applicable Honda divisions to achieve and maintain complaint and minimize legal risks
  • Legal Matters: Prepare and coordinate cases for the applicable Honda entity, develop legal strategy, provide the business with regular updates and advice, and manage outside counsel to reach the best long-term solution for Honda
  • Knowledge management: Follow changes in all relevant federal and state laws and regulations, and exchange and share legal knowledge within the applicable Honda entity/division/department, as well as train Honda associates in legal best practices, to improve the awareness, quality, and effectiveness of the legal function
  • Projects: Participate in the planning and execution of assigned AHM Law projects with a regional focus

Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in the areas of customs & trade law, occupational health & safety law, or environmental law

 

Required Education:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an Accredited Law School
  • Admittance to the Ohio Bar, or ability to become registered as a Corporate Counsel with the Supreme Court of Ohio

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, problem solving, customer satisfaction, building relationship, coaching, decision-making, risk analysis, flexibility/adaptability, patience, listening, risk taking, focusing on achieving results and supporting others achieve results, legal technical knowledge, Honda business knowledge
