Regulation Skills Coordinator (TOSA) - Districtwide

 

This posting is for two positions for the 2023-2024 school year. 

 

 

Position Description: 

The West Linn-Wilsonville School District is seeking a Regulation Skills Coordinator to provide services for students in grades K-21, with a focus on primary schools. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, the Regulation Skills Coordinator will work with school teams to develop and implement research/evidence based behavior interventions to produce positive behavioral and self-regulation change in students. The focus will be on leading, coaching, and collaborating with teams in the development of interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinates, models and coaches intervention plans across multiple school teams
  • Conducts workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc. in positive behavioral supports, behavioral data collection, analysis, and support planning for the purpose of building capacity and establishing effective interventions for students
  • Works effectively and cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and community members.
  • Understands and uses evidenced based practices for students with disabilities (e.g. collaborative problem solving, assistive technology, visual supports, video modeling, social skills, etc)
  • The Regulation Skills Coordinator would become a trainer in our district adopted nonviolent crisis intervention program, providing professional learning and context specific refreshers for colleagues. Restraint and/or seclusion are safety responses utilized as a last resort when risk is high and when less restrictive interventions would not be effective.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education with an emphasis on learners supporting neurodivergent learners who are experiencing dysregulation.
  • Minimum three years recent experience with neurodiverse learners
  • Experience in developing positive behavior support plans, visual supports, and programs to enhance communication skills.
  • Experience in teaching social interaction and play skills.
  • Knowledge of current research and range of educational practices 
  • Hold appropriate TSPC licensure.
  • Implementation of knowledge and best practice in the education of students with autism spectrum disorder and behavior challenge.
  • Knowledge of and skill in teaching the general curriculum. Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills.

 

Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Preferred experience in working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically and racially diverse
  • Direct experience with students with autism spectrum disorder and students who have experienced dysregulation across age ranges and across various levels.
  • Training for professionals, paraprofessionals, and community members. Interagency networking and collaboration.
  • Current knowledge of assistive technology.
