Aledade seeks an experienced health care regulatory attorney to provide advice and support on a wide range of legal and business matters, with a focus on the Company's performance, growth opportunities, strategic partnerships, and commercial operations. The attorney will be responsible for providing regulatory guidance on a variety of matters, including complete and accurate diagnosis coding, patient incentives, and state managed care requirements. The attorney will also support the Compliance Team and be required to assist with reviewing and advising on various strategic agreements entered into between Aledade and its network of independent physicians, as well as agreements between Aledade and third party IPAs or various associations, working together with the business and other members of the Legal Team to increase participation in Aledade's accountable care organizations while promoting value-based care. Counsel must be able to identify various health regulatory issues, with a focus on fraud and abuse laws, and develop compliant solutions to facilitate Aledade's business objectives.  This attorney must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and working closely with Senior Leadership and directly with business partners on such strategic arrangements and all related corporate legal matters. Counsel will have a multi-faceted role spanning support for the outreach and growth team and critical business partnerships.

We are flexible with respect to geographic location, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable working remotely within the US.

    • Respond to legal requests on topics related to Aledade's participation in such strategic arrangements and provide regulatory guidance as a subject matter expert.
    • Oversee Aledade's regulatory compliance posture with various government regulatory agencies, including managing Aledade's licensing status, handling periodic required regulatory filings, and responding to regulator inquiries as necessary.
    • Ensure that Aledade's business functions maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations in various jurisdictions.
    • Effectively prioritize and manage additional ad-hoc requests and responsibilities across a spectrum of complex business, legal, and strategic issues
Qualifications & Skills:
    • J.D. degree and membership in at least one state bar.
    • 3+ years prior experience in the health care regulatory space at a business-oriented law firm or in-house legal department.
    • Significant health care regulatory knowledge focusing on fraud and abuse and other laws and regulations relevant for health care companies.
    • Experience with provider-facing healthcare companies or health plans.
    • Desire and willingness to learn about business and legal issues related to value-based care and accountable care organizations.
    • Strong written, communication, research, and analysis skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, including the ability to explain complex information to non-lawyers, and build relationships with business partners.
    • Ability to think creatively and be open to new ideas and learning opportunities.
    • Ability to work in a positive, collaborative team environment while also effectively managing projects and delivering independent results.
    • Demonstrated ability to work under competing deadlines and adjust responsibilities in response to recalibrated business needs.
    • Ability to be flexible and scale in an extremely fast-paced, thriving startup environment.
Who We Are:
Aledade, a public benefit corporation, exists to empower the most transformational part of our health care landscape - independent primary care. We were founded in 2014, and since then, we've become the largest network of independent primary care in the country - helping practices, health centers and clinics deliver better care to their patients and thrive in value-based care. Additionally, by creating value-based contracts across a wide variety of payers, we aim to flip the script on the traditional fee-for-service model. Our work strengthens continuity of care, aligns incentives, and ensures primary care physicians are paid for what they do best - keeping patients healthy. If you want to help create a health care system that is good for patients, good for practices and good for society - and if you're eager to join a collaborative, inclusive and remote-first culture - you've come to the right place.

What Does This Mean for You?
At Aledade, you will be part of a creative culture that is driven by a passion for tackling complex issues with respect, open-mindedness and a desire to learn. You will collaborate with team members who bring a wide range of experiences, interests, backgrounds, beliefs and achievements to their work - and who are all united by a shared passion for public health and a commitment to the Aledade mission.

In addition to time off to support work-life balance and enjoyment, we offer the following comprehensive benefits package designed for the overall well-being of our team members:
Flexible work schedules and the ability to work remotely are available for many roles
Health, dental and vision insurance paid up to 80% for employees, dependents, and domestic partners Robust time off plan 21 days of PTO in your first year 2 Paid Volunteer Days & 11 paid holidays
