As a Cost Estimator for the FEMA Logistics Construction Support Contract, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely cost estimates for construction and logistical support services related to disaster response and recovery efforts. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to analyze project requirements, prepare detailed cost estimates, and monitor project costs to ensure adherence to budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop project plans and specifications
- Analyze project requirements and develop cost estimates based on historical data and current market conditions
- Review and analyze vendor proposals and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures
- Monitor project costs and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities
- Prepare cost reports and forecasts to support project management decisions
- Provide guidance to project teams on cost management best practices and strategies
- Continuously review and update cost-estimating methods and tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
- 3-5 years of experience in cost estimating for construction projects, preferably in the disaster response or government contracting industry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools, including RS Means CostWorks
- Knowledge of federal government procurement regulations and policies
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
