Cost Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

The Cost Engineer will work closely with our sales team, engineering team and our customers to review all technical drawings, component specifications, and other critical documentation to prepare and present accurate and competitive cost proposals for a wide range of manufactured products ranging from graphic overlays and HMI’s (human machine interfaces) to printed electronics such as biomedical patches, electrodes and sensors.

The ability to understand our customer requirements, our breadth of products, and select the appropriate materials, vendors, components, and manufacturing processes to meet the technical and quality requirements of each new opportunity is key to the success of the Cost Engineer.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Consistently demonstrates superior customer service by combining system knowledge, sales, product, and problem-solving skills to exceed customer expectations.
• Designs and completes cost estimate proposals for new and custom jobs at a level that keeps our products competitive and maximizes profit.
• Works together with multiple departments (i.e., sales, engineering, manufacturing, and quality as needed to ensure accurate quotes and lead times.
• Works with outside sources of supply to negotiate and secure quotations for all custom materials and components as necessary to complete cost proposals.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

• BS/BA in engineering, or relevant discipline a plus
• Good working knowledge of CAD and Excel software.
• Working experiences in Accounting and Cost Estimating a plus.
• Having functional competence and a basic understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments a plus
• Must feel comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment where priorities are continually changing.
• Familiarity with financial and project management principles, working experiences of ERP systems a plus.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision to multitask within specified time frames or deadlines.
• Able to identify problems and offer alternative solutions and/or courses of action based on available resources.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal partners and external customers through multiple means such as email and telephone.
