IFF-Lucas Meyer Cosmetics is seeking a passionate and results driven Cosmetic Formulation Chemist, NOAM! 

Your Focus:

As Cosmetic Formulation Chemist, NOAM, you will provide expertise with LMC ingredients and other commonly used ingredients in the cosmetic industry. You will be responsible to formulate a variety of cosmetic products to support promotion and added value of LMC ingredients. You will also provide technical support and training to lower-tier customers experiencing issue with LMC ingredients.

The role is based in NYC/NJ area and will report to the Formulation Manager, NOAM.

Your Missions

• Formulation Skills
• Formulate all types of cosmetic product from skin care to hair care to color cosmetics, sun care etc. particularly OTC products or specific regional status to ensure promotion of our entire portfolio with a strong focus on our functional ingredients
• Reproduce existing LMC formulas in the lab to support regional needs
• Tweak existing chassis of formulas in response to a customer/ market need
• Study chassis formulas, understand composition, ingredients functions, choice of ingredients, manufacturing process
• Expert in LMC ingredients and strong technical knowledge of other ingredients on the market
• Put all formulas in stability and monitor stability of all formulas according to global formulation procedure. Propose solution when encountering instability.
• Reach out to the Formulation Core team based in France with any technical question or to gather necessary information in order to provide the best support
• Prepare and send prototypes, raw materials, formulas after validated with Formulation Manager, NOAM
• Document all formulas and stability in formulation software according to global formulation procedure and ensure precise follow up and documentation on all formulas
• Analyze and synthesis results in report
• Master of standard characterization tools: pH meter, Viscosimeter, Microscope...

Analytical Skills: Autonomy in development and troubleshooting of formulas, identification of issues, suggestions of investigations routes, synthesis of results
Laboratory handling: Daily contribution to cleanliness and safety, communicate need of lab supplies and coordinate maintenance of lab equipment
Computer skills: use of formulation software, Microsoft office (outlook, excel, power point) and internet

What you will need to be successful:

• Bachelor's in science, Chemistry or related science from an ACS accredited school. Cosmetic Science classes and/or Skin Biology is a plus
• Minimum 2 years in a Cosmetic Formulation laboratory, in charge of same missions (either in a similar function or in a company developing finished products)
• Technical knowledge of chemistry and cosmetic ingredients with a strong interest in Cosmetic Science
• Passionate and knowledgeable about cosmetic products with a very good knowledge of trends in NOAM
• Organized, reactive and rigorous with attention to details
• Curious and creative mindset with hands-on approach
• Good communication and analytical skills
• Able to work in fast-paced environment and multitasking
• Able to present internally and externally
• This position doesn't require travelling. Main customer support will be provided locally.

Compensation ($63,600 - $71,550) is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

The sale is presently expected to close in Q1 of 2024, pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
