Job Description
Position Overview:
The Corporate Quality Engineer will work as a member of the Corporate Quality team within Amcor Healthcare manufacturing facilities. The main objective of this role is to support the production of high quality products through insuring ensuring compliance to existing requirements, driving continuous improvements through formal LSS projects and using advanced Quality Engineering tools for production reliability improvement, including performing root cause analysis for solving problems.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Become fully conversant in and capable of extending the Amcor Quality Management System
  • Participate in Amcor's Green Belt program and utilize those skills and methodologies to successfully lead improvement projects within the plant.
  • Audit key plant processes to Amcor SOP's, identifying any gaps, and work with the plant team and other necessary resources to resolve.
  • Lead plant internal investigations for NCRs (Nonconforming Reports), understanding root causes, and driving robust corrective actions to prevent similar defects from reaching customers.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Analyzes product verification, validation, and ongoing test results and provides feedback and interpretation to production management or staff, for the purpose of improving quality and operating systems which meet customer requirements and best practice audits.
  • Supports inspection of incoming materials, work-in-process materials, rework materials and finished goods to assure the required level of quality through visual inspection, statistical sampling and laboratory testing of materials; ascertains reasons for nonconforming materials Establishes, monitors and controls Hold For Inspection (HFI) procedures to ensure nonconforming materials do not enter the production process and are properly identified and segregated.
  • Utilizes quality techniques to reduce process variations or refine process parameters
  • Supports the plant in establishing, monitoring, and maintaining statistical process control (SPC) programs; advises and instructs local managers in utilization of SPC data; Helps maintain corporate database(s) that house customer specifications and established guidelines for achieving those requirements related to product safety, quality, legality, process and specification (Windchill and RealSPC or corporate approved equivalent software applications)
  • Implements and tracks corrective and preventative actions to ensure items are successfully closed out on a timely basis
  • Assists in development of standard operating procedures, work instructions and form control documents
  • Assists with customer complaint investigations and vendor incident notifications
  • Communicates results and makes follow-up commitments to customers.
  • Visits customers and vendors as needed
  • Travel requirements up to 20%

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering or a related technical field
  • 0-3 years of experience in a quality assurance role preferred
  • 0-3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Professional accreditation in quality (ASQ, CQE) preferred; required within 3 years of service
  • Experience using Quality Tools, such as statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis (RCA), measurement systems analysis (MSA), and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with internal, customer, and third party Quality System Auditing preferred
  • Experience in Medical Device/Pharmaceutical or Quality Assurance of aseptic manufacturing preferred
  • Experience working in FDA regulated industry preferred (21 CFR 820, Title 21 Part 210-211)
  • Experience with automated quality gauging and measurement systems (e.g. AVID)
  • Experience with customer relations - written responses, verbal communications and face to face interactions preferred
  • Proficiency in the following software: Word, Power Point, Excel, MS Project, Visio
