We are seeking an experienced and efficient Corporate Counsel at Kisco Senior Living to assist in every aspect of legal operations within our fast-growing senior living community corporation. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting the General Counsel in handling a variety of complex legal matters and special projects. This position requires excellent legal skills, strategic problem solving, and proficient understanding in the areas of healthcare law, acquisitions, real estate, and compliance matters.
This is a Hybrid position and works out of our home office in Carlsbad California 2-3 days a week.
What will I do every day?
- Assist the General Counsel in managing all legal affairs of the company, including labor and employment matters, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, real estate transactions, and litigation management.
- Coordinating and managing outside counsel and legal vendors as needed.
- Stay abreast of applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidance that impact the company's senior living communities.
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts and agreements as well as maintain company's contract management database.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda to support the company's business objectives and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Assist in the creation and administration of company policies, procedures, and programs.
- Provide training and support to senior living communities on legal issues and compliance matters.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, finance and human resources, to ensure that legal issues are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
- Handle licensing and regulatory compliance matters
- Assist in transactional matters including financing, acquisitions, due diligence and other transactional areas.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in at least one state.
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in a corporate setting.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Familiarity with various legal documents and procedures, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional project management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with real estate transactions is a plus.
