This description is intended to be illustrative of the major duties performed by the employee recruited to this position. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

G/L Accounting and Controls:

  • Oversee corporate accounting functions for the company, as it expands from one site to two operating sites over the next twelve months.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the balance sheet, conducting regular balance sheet reviews.
  • Conduct regular balance sheet reviews and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Provide ongoing training to accounting personnel, assessing, and building skills and competencies.
  • Lead, develop, and manage the accounting department (G/L, fixed assets, A/P, A/R; 7-8 FTE in downline).
  • Work closely with plant controllers and cost accountants on accounting/close and internal controls.

Cash management/banking:

  • Represent company to banks, financial partners, auditors, etc.
  • Cash flow planning and forecasting; oversee/perform weekly cash management analysis.
  • Coordinate loan compliance with bank contacts and loan agreements.
  • Maintain and oversee loan compliance calendar and reporting deliverables.

Financial close and reporting

  • Lead month-end close of all ERP (Great Plains) modules with the corporate and plant teams, maintain close checklist, lead team through workday 3 rigorous qualitative reviews and workday 4 report out to CFO, with final reporting published on workday 5.
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting data to management, auditors, and banks.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and annual K-1’s.
  • Create plan and implement continuous improvement in accounting and controls.
  • Implement Accounting and controls-related policies, procedures, and processes improvements.

Audit, Tax, and Insurance

  • Engage auditors and consultants as required and manage the yearly annual valuation and audit process.
  • Work with outside public accountants to plan, prepare and file all local, state, and federal tax returns.
  • Ensure timely and completing filing of reporting to insurance brokers to include annual applications, claims filing/monitoring, and other requirements. Ensure LOI’s are updated and distributed.

Process Improvements and Functional Excellence

  • Enhance and implement financial and accounting processes, systems, and tools.
  • Drive the development and maturation of Leiters controls and compliance capabilities within accounting and finance core processes and through strong integration with all other functional and operational departments.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with other functions and departments with a spirit of teamwork and customer service.

Experience & Necessary Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s preferred.
  • Best practice process/practice experience in corporate accounting and controls, manufacturing company experience highly preferred.
  • 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years of management experience including controllership.
  • Strong process improvement skills with demonstrated success in building organizational capability, developing talent, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Results-oriented, driven, high sense of urgency and bias towards action. Excellent follow through and organization.
  • Detail-orientated, process and systems savvy to reduce time to close/report, identify and reduce errors, and improve the timeliness, relevance, and accuracy of financial reporting during and after month-end close.
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance related issues.
  • Outstanding knowledge of GAAP accounting, SOX Compliance and S-Corporation Structure.
  • CPA with public accounting experience preferred.
  • Must possess strong organizational, supervisory, and planning skills.
  • Experience with private equity, Merger and Acquisitions, and high growth rate companies, desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strengths in building and developing high performance teams; possess effective facilitation, coaching and counseling skills.
  • Must have demonstrated experience with project management and be able to develop and lead organizational transformation-oriented projects and initiatives to successful outcome.
  • Ability to work with others in a professional and diplomatic manner.

Pay: $128,628 - $160,812 salary depending on experience
