Corp - Cyber Security Researcher

Apogee is seeking a talented and experienced Cyber Security Researcher to join our team in Dayton, Ohio. This role will focus on conducting both defensive and offensive cyber research to enhance our organization's security posture and response capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cybersecurity and corresponding laboratory research practices, with a passion for exploring cutting-edge techniques and technologies in both defensive and offensive cyber operations.

What you will be doing:

• Conduct comprehensive research on emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
• Develop and implement defensive strategies, tactics, and technologies to mitigate cyber risks and protect prototypes of interest.
• Perform penetration testing and ethical hacking activities to identify weaknesses in systems and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and implement security solutions and controls.
• Analyze and interpret data from security tools and technologies to detect and respond to security incidents.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to cybersecurity.
• Contribute to the development of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior members of the cybersecurity team.
• Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation efforts.

What you will need to have:

• Security Clearance Required: Secret with Top Secret eligibility
• One of the following education/experience combinations:
  • Master's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related technical science field with 6+ years' experience focusing on both defensive and offensive techniques, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related technical science field with 8+ years' experience focusing on both defensive and offensive techniques
• Demonstrated experience with verification and validation as well as penetration testing tools and methodologies
• Strong understanding of microelectronics and embedded systems
• Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as C, FORTAN, Visual Basic, Visual Studio, LabView, MATLAB, SolidWorks, Python, PowerShell, GHIDRA, IDAPRO, or Bash
• Experience with security assessment frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and NIST Cybersecurity Framework
• Experience with management of laboratory or hardware research (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits:

• Apogee offers two medical plans, a high deductible health plan with an HSA and HRA and a traditional POS plan with co-pays, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, parental, military, and jury duty paid leaves. Regular part-time employees scheduled for twenty-four or more hours per work week are eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis.
