Position Description:Floater Teacher
Reports to: Principal
Status: Exempt
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Substitute in place of absent teaching staff (Classroom Teacher or Paraprofessional) determine the needs and provide for the development of children, will act as a role model for teaching staff and work to create a safe environment for children. This staff member will implement and maintain all components regarding elementary school children requirements.
Responsibilities: Provides technical assistance, support, and role modeling to members of the classroom teaching team in curriculum and developmental issues. Maintains knowledge in the field to develop professional skills. Implement teaching plans as designed by classroom teacher. Prepare records of observation and maintain periodic progress reports regarding the children as needed. Seek to understand the elementary school curriculum and role model asset building behavior when interacting with participants, employees and other stakeholders. Any additional responsibilities as given by Principal and/or Supervisor.
Complete necessary reports and records in an accurate and timely manner.
Quality Assurance: Actively seek to align programs with best practices or standards for high quality. Ensure on time and accurate collection of data using organization's database and/or funder databases. Report findings to supervisor; make recommendations for improving quality of services and/or department's outcomes system; ensure successful implementation department strategies. Use outcome findings to enhance organizations public image and promote programs to families, volunteers, funders, and stakeholders.
Qualifications: Two years of experience (full-time) in an elementary school setting as a paraprofessional,
Substitute and/or teacher's assistant. Bi- lingual skills in a variety of languages is a plus.
Education:

• Illinois Substitute Teacher License required.
• Paraprofessional License preferred.
• Bachelor Degree in education or related field preferred.
