Position Summary

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for evaluating and adjusting daily staffing across ECU Health in coordination with the Nurse Managers, Administrators and/or Patient Care Coordinators/House Supervisors.

Responsibilities

Uses Flexwork with validation of skill set to select appropriately skilled employees at the level required to provide patient care in an area.
Maintains knowledge of staffing in all areas to be able to identify staffing plans to meet the needs of all units according to the guidelines provided from Nursing Administration.
Prioritizes staffing needs based on number of staff scheduled, staff mix, acuity and census in a particular area.
Obtains current system census information in order to adjust and plan staffing appropriately.
Updates Flexwork continually as changes occur with staffing.
Completes reports as requested on productivity, utilization, etc. utilizing Flexwork.
Maintains professional communication with team members throughout the organization/system.
Accomplishes tasks via telephone and facsimile communication.
Reports updates, changes, and other significant information in bed briefings and other forums as needed.
Database management and reports are kept updated for accuracy of staffing information.
Research as requested.
Ensures that the dashboards and reports for the enterprise are accurate.
Nursing webpage management for the updated Labor Resource Office documents.
Assigns Central Staffing Office personnel and relocates other staff as needed on a shift by shift basis to cover System wide nursing unit needs.
Reviews Flexwork data and reports to evaluate and adjust staffing on a continual basis to best utilize available resources.
Prepares daily staffing reports for the ECU Health enterprise which reflect accurate staffing and needs throughout the system.
Assists Nurse Manager, Administrators and/or Patient Care Coordinators/House Supervisors with daily staffing needs by contacting resources as appropriate to resolve current and future staffing issues.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of high school and 2 years of formal education/training is required. Two year degree can be in any field or 15 years of health care experience.
Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Proficiency in Word Required. Knowledgeable of healthcare terminology is required.
1 year to 3 years in healthcare required.
Proficiency in Excel Required.
Critical Thinking and Interpersonal Skills Required.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail needed.
