REPORTS TO: Director of Career Services
PLACEMENT: Professional Staff, Grade H8
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $25.80 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
This position reports to the Director of Career Services and develops intensive, focused, and purposeful relationships with external partners to create new internships, experiential learning opportunities, and full-time jobs. The position will create, coordinate, and implement programs to connect students with meaningful, real-world experiences that lead to success for Joliet Junior College students and alumni.
The Coordinator of Employer Relations works with employers to bridge the gap between students and employers by coordinating career fairs, company information sessions, on-campus workshops and interview days, and other related events. The Coordinator of Employer Relations works to develop and maintain partnerships with new employers and assist them in recruiting activities. Additionally, the Coordinator of Employer Relations works with the Director of Career Services to strategically increase the presence of employers on campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain relationships with existing employer partners and develop a targeted prospect list of employers to recruit on campus with specific outcomes relating to new internships, experiential learning opportunities, full-time jobs, as well as expanded networking programs for the college; seeks to develop a strong pipeline of opportunities for all academic programs at Joliet Junior College.
2. Provide employers with information regarding the services offered by the career center, including guidelines on internship development and campus recruitment practices. Provides feedback to employers on job description content and marketing strategies.
3. Work with employers across all industries, gathering information on employment trends, professional skill needs, and other labor-related issues that educate students, faculty, and Career Services staff.
4. Maintain employer tracking data for monthly and annual reporting to support office trending analysis, reports, and student internships and learning.
5. Assist in meeting the grant goals and completing related reports.
6. Assist in developing and implementing recruiting and preparatory events, including career fairs and professional development events. Manage event details, including but not limited to marketing and volunteer assignments.
7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate degree in Business, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related field.
2. Two (2) or more years of work experience in higher education career services and employment counseling.
3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral, writing, and computer skills, as well as the ability to initiate projects and work with students, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds.
4. Ability to prepare and deliver high-quality, effective presentations.
5. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
7. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related field.
2. Familiarity with career-related software and platforms like the Handshake Career Management System.
3. Experience developing/managing educational and training events and programs.
4. Employer relations experience and networking skills, preferably in an educational or non-profit organization, are desirable.
5. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
6. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal office physical demands.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors and/or outdoor environment.
2. Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
