We are seeking a passionate Cooling Components Core Engineer for our forward-thinking Global Thermal Systems team. You will be responsible for Global degas bottles, pressure relief caps, hoses/tubes, and related components to support existing internal combustion vehicles and next generation electric vehicles.


What you'll do…
  • Global Core Engineer / SME for coolant bottles, pressure relief caps and hoses/tubes.
  • Author Engineering specifications and foundation documents (DFMEA, DVP, ESOW etc.) for above components for all Ford global programs
  • Own bottle sizing requirements, associated tools and program sign-off.
  • Interface with global VOME fill equipment team to maintain bottle complexity matrix for all plants and ensure continuing compatibility between the bottle and plant fill equipment.
  • Own cooling hose joint requirements (including interfacing with ergonomics), associated tools (e.g., HJOINT), and program sign-off.
  • Global Thermal Systems cross-functional interface with other flexibles core groups (e.g., clip selection, sleeve compatibility, clearance checks, motion modeling)
  • Lead in creating sourcing quote package and technical assessment of suppliers for new technology components including qualification of local suppliers for global supplier localization efforts.
  • Support pre-program team initial cost estimates, engineering assumptions, and benchmarking.
  • Lead the implementation of new suppliers and technologies using the Ford GTDS process with efficient program management techniques.
  • Create, update, and monitor modular catalog of parts for vehicle usages.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks during new supplier implementation.
  • Review and approve DV (Design Verification) and PV (Product Validation) plans and develop commodity business plans.
  • Lead component tech clubs and core process development to facilitate improved program delivery.
  • Capture lessons learned/PRA and develop updated test plans, requirements, and specifications.
  • Hands on troubleshooting of component and related sub-system and vehicle issues (including plant fill)
  • Support resolution of manufacturing issues
  • Manage coolant bottle, pressure relief cap, and hose/tube SREA approvals.
  • Manage OK-to-Use tools.
  • Lead resolution of cross carline warranty issues
  • Support implementation of cross carline TVM actions
You'll have…
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • 3+ years of experience in Thermal System Components/Subsystem design or related experience
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the following: authoring engineering specifications, foundation documents (DFMEA, DVP, FEDE, etc…)
  • Project Management knowledge in planning and executing projects, agile methodology and risk management
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing technologies related to bottles, caps, hoses, and tubes.
  • Knowledge of Teamcenter, TcVis Mockup and ability to move, align, modify and freeze components and assemblies
  • Proven ability to participate effectively and lead cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work in non-structured environment where creativity and a start-up mentality is encouraged
  • Motivation to work in a fast-moving environment
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues and effectively communicate to management
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively represent the company and interact with suppliers
  • Ability to communicate clearly and express new ideas to all levels of management.
  • Demonstrated delivery of results
  • Ability to balance objectives and resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and follow-up
  • Knowledge of Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong English skills

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • Design and Release experience, WERS knowledge and vehicle launch experience a plus
  • CAE/CFD knowledge/experience a plus
