The National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) is an active network comprised of over 40-member public health institutes in 33 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia. Public health institutes are nonprofit organizations that improve the public’s health by fostering innovation, leveraging resources, and building partnerships across sectors, including government agencies, communities, the health care delivery system, media, and academia. NNPHI and its member institutes work together to implement public health policy and program initiatives throughout all 50 states. NNPHI offices are located in New Orleans and Washington, DC. Additional staff, consultants, members, and partners support NNPHI’s mission from several locations throughout the United States


The NNPHI mission is to support national public health system initiatives and strengthen public health institutes to promote multi-sector activities resulting in measurable improvements of public health structures, systems, and outcomes. NNPHI’s vision is innovation-fostering public health institutes across the nation collaborating to improve population health.


NNPHI collaborates with its member public health institutes and a wide range of national, state, tribal and local partners to support public health initiatives. These collaborative efforts promote health equity, support public health and health systems collaboration, build capacity of the public health system, encourage health in all policies, and promote evidence-based public health practice. Position Summary


NNPHI seeks Convening Program Strategist to provide project management, lead the execution of high quality, customer-centric events and convenings and leverage the expertise of NNPHI members support a diverse and growing array of public health projects and convenings.


The Convening Program Strategist will work independently and collaboratively to lead several projects within the Convenings and Communications portfolio. This will primarily include supporting the National Conference on Tobacco or Health (NCTOH) and events related to the Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems Grant (PHIG), a multi- year national initiative that aims to support critical public health infrastructure needs of jurisdictions across the United States.

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:??


National Conference on Tobacco or Health (NCTOH)


Administer and organize the abstract management process,


Coordinate Plenaries and sub plenaries (in collaboration with the Tobacco Control Manager),


Support program area chairs,


Oversee speaker management for sessions including plenaries, sub-plenaries and breakouts, workshops and poster sessions,


Support the development and organization of conference plenaries and sub-plenaries,


Assist with the coordination of Continuing Education Units (CEU),


Liaise with contractors, speakers and subject matter experts (SMEs),



Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG)


Provide ongoing support for the Regional Hub Convenings and Regional Hub Model,


Serve as the point of contact for the evaluation for the regional hub convenings,


Assist with development, management, and maintenance of existing, new and ongoing communities of practice (CoP) including the regional hub communities of practice,


Support the Senior Communications Manager in amplifying the regional hub convenings through storytelling, and engaging with the hub recipients,


Provide ongoing support for the Annual Recipient Meeting/ Reverse Site Visit


Assist with the logistics for the annual Open Forum: Next Generation (NxGen) conference


General Responsibilities:??


Provide overall project management, including developing and managing timelines, contracting, scope of work and adhering to set budgets, leading project planning and implementation, and coordinating with NNPHI staff, members, consultants, and partners to achieve stated goals.


Identify and monitor approaches to reduce costs associated with NNPHI-hosted events.


Design and lead content development for NNPHI convenings and work across portfolios to support other projects.


Support the shared vision and strategies for the NNPHI brand of meetings/events.


Support the development, design, implement, and evaluate initiatives in NNPHI’s Convenings portfolio.


Propose new ideas/strategies to improve the event planning and implementation process for NNPHI’s multiple meetings.


Build and maintain effective working relationships with funders, partners, contractors, and project participants/collaborators.


Contribute to the development of reports to funders.


Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to document and share lessons learned both internally and externally.


Attend, organize, and/or facilitate project meetings.


Collaborate with team members to support the production of event marketing materials, including invitations, programs, agendas, and online presence that capture and communicate NNPHI’s mission. This will involve supporting the creative development, editing documents, and coordinating production with vendors


Ensure that NNPHI policies are upheld at all meetings, conferences and events; including, smoke-free environment, healthy food, access to stairs, etc.


Lead all aspects of on-site event production to ensure that NNPHI’s high standard is upheld.


Lead planning and hosting assigned in-person, hybrid and virtual events,


Serve as liaison to NNPHI contractors and consultants, including member institutes.


Track and monitor the progress of projects to assure and continuously improve quality.


Work with the NNPHI Contracts Officer and program managers to execute subgrant / subcontract agreements.


Develop, implement and monitor abstract submission and review processes as well as provide technical support for submitters thus troubleshooting issues before they become problems

Qualifications:


The Convening Program Strategist position requires Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of professional experience required, Master's degree in relevant field preferred


Training/education and interest in public health,


Experience providing administrative and coordination support for programs,


Competency and experience in the use of relevant software packages and web-based applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and can quickly learn and utilize multiple software and online programs (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Smartsheet, Salesforce, Mail Chimp, Canva, Zoom, Cvent, Higher Logic),


Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills,


Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to multiple demands simultaneously,


Strong communications and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively work with colleagues, constituents and diverse partner organizations,


Detail-oriented, flexible, and a strong value for high-quality work products,


Professionalism and sophistication in communications including social media,


Customer service oriented,


Ability to take initiative, solve problems creatively and work independently with a helpful and positive attitude.
