Navistar has an exciting opportunity for a Controls Software Project Manager - Vendor Software to join our team at our WHQ in Lisle, IL.
Navistar Controls Software team is responsible for electronic controls and software requirements, design, coding, testing, software integration and releases. This position is part of the product delivery management team for Chassis & Vendor Software domains. It is responsible for identifying and developing Software Development work plans to meet program objectives and timing. The Engineer will work with different suppliers and Controls Software Functional Teams to identify, develop, coordinate, maintain, and report out on the status of software delivery.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain program software plans for Vendor Modules
- Identify software needs based on Navistar vehicle architecture to support program scopes
- Provide estimates and maintain resource plan to meet software plan
- Coordinate reviews between Vendors & Internal Controls Software Teams
- Coordinate Vendor Software Releases
- Identify and coordinate vehicle level tests in support of new software or vehicle needs
- Present Vendor software status at program team meetings
- Track and manage software resources
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 8 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 6 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science
- At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. - Experience in managing cross-functional projects with internal teams and external Tier 1 suppliers
- Knowledge of CAN messaging and/or SAE J1939
- Knowledge of high-performance embedded CPUs
- Supplier management and development experience
- Experience with engineering and quality design and development methodologies: (8D, FMEA, DVP&R)
- Experience with requirement documentation and system engineering
- Experience with data acquisition systems and Vector CAN tools is a plus
- Knowledge in functional areas, such as Electric Vehicle Electronics, Vehicle Communications and Network
- Experience in Embedded Software Development
- Experience with agile development methods. Knowledge of SAFE
- Excellent Written and Verbal Skills
