Job Overview:
  • The Controls Engineer shall provide diversified support of projects, tests, diagnoses, experiments, and any other higher-level electrical and/or programming support function. This position requires that qualified Controls Engineer be responsible for electrical design concepts, programming, cost analysis, troubleshooting, debugging, and testing of new and existing production equipment.
  • The Controls Engineer will initiate and complete projects that replace obsolete equipment, reduce operation cost, increase efficiency and capability, improve quality, and any other ideas that lead to continuous improvements of automated manufacturing equipment. This position will include electrical design, software validation, programming for PLC's, vision systems, microprocessors, motion control, digital displays, robotic systems, material handling systems, Equipment Safety Circuits, and all other electrical control systems.
  • The Controls Engineer shall support other plant-wide departments as needed for manufacturing process improvement and quality upgrade activities including MES downtime and other interfaces that require site or corporate IT support.
  • The Controls Engineer shall assist Controls Specialists and Controls Technicians when needed in troubleshooting difficult problems. This individual shall provide to the Controls Specialists, Controls Technicians, and Mold Techs the training/mentoring needed to repair control systems plant-wide.
  • The Controls Engineer will provide leadership by setting an example for Controls Specialists, Controls Technicians, and Mold Techs. They will have the mentoring skills to be able to coach others and will delegate work to other associates as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function.
  • Ability to read, write and converse in English.
  • Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Minimum Requirement:
  • Degree level qualification; or equivalent combination of education and experience
