About the Role
Heyday is seeking an experienced Controller to take the helm in ensuring precision and punctuality in our financial records. This key role focuses on financial reporting and accuracy, with an emphasis on brick-and-mortar operations, including franchise management. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing various business units such as eCommerce, franchising, product lines, and company-owned shops.This role must be located within close proximity of New York City.
What You'll Do

• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements by GAAP
• Manage and continuously develop an efficient system to provide
• timely and accurate financial reporting of all business units, including eCommerce, franchising, product line, and company owned shops.
• Manage and continuously develop internal procedures and controls that bring clarity, focus and prioritization to complex problems.
• Provide status of financial condition by collecting, reconciling, and reporting financial data.
• Provide insightful analysis of financial results and communicate findings to CFO
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Coordinate and liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process
• Address audit findings and implement recommendations for process improvements
• Manage the AP and AR process, ensuring best in class accounting practices
• Mentor team members to improve performance and advance them on their career paths
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.

The Ideal Candidate

• 5-10 Years of accounting management experience, CPA qualified with significant GAAP expertise - both internal and audit is a plus.
• Prior experience with a franchise experience is a plus.
• You are analytical. You can break complex problems down to their constituent parts.
• You can see the forest through the trees. You can see the vision for where Heyday is going and guide your team in that direction. You make decisions based on long term consequences to set up Heyday and your team for success.
• You are accountable. You are results-oriented and like to make things happen.
• You love to get down and dirty with the data. You can delegate, but you're not afraid to jump into the details to find the right long-term solution, whether that’s people, process, or systems.
• You are an awesome communicator. You thrive in a team environment and love communicating across functions to create financial excellence.
• You have a high degree of comfort with accounting & systems. You understand how to build and maintain multi-segment systems and you are comfortable facilitating and participating in broader system thinking and important technical decisions.
• You thrive in change. You are flexible and able to adjust and change direction as the business environment and accounting universe evolves and changes.
• You love developing your team. People love to work with and for you. You are committed to developing others by leaning into the why and building on peoples’ strengths.
• You’re interested in skincare, self-care, and wellness. You don’t have to be a guru, but passion for the category and can understand the customer mindset around skincare and self-care.
