We are seeking a Controller to oversee all financial functions of the organization. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this person will be responsible for all accounting and finance responsibilities, reporting directly to the Principal & CEO, Jean Freeman. This person will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and profitability goals and should demonstrate flexibility and agility in adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
Candidate must be based in the greater Los Angeles area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage annual revenue recognition
- Manage expense budgeting and forecasting process, working in collaboration with the President and department heads to develop operating budgets that support the agency's strategic priorities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting process
- Lead monthly financial consolidation reporting
- Evaluate client profitability on an ongoing basis
- Manage company cash flow and cash applications
- Partner with New Business & Account Leads to define scope of work and staffing, providing pricing and fee structure recommendations
- Work in collaboration with the People Team on open headcount tracking & staff allocations
- Maintaining compliance: ensure the company is following GAAP standards and federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules concerning financial and tax reporting
- Partner with CPA firm to oversee multi-jurisdictional tax and regulatory filings, including preparation of schedules to support partnership tax return and K-1s and business personal property and state/local business taxes
- Research best practices and reporting functionalities in Advantage to generate detailed information across clients, jobs and profitability
- Supervise and develop department staff
- Maintain a policy manual for the finance department
REQUIREMENTS
- 10 years experience within the advertising/creative/media or production industry
- Strong attention to detail and accountability for checking and tracking work progress
- An adaptive individual who can be proactive and take initiative
- Ability to think outside the box and challenge the status quo
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, across all levels of the organization
- Ability to effectively manage and develop direct report(s)
- Strong leadership and presentation skills
- Familiar with Advantage Software Systems, a plus
The salary range for this position is $150-$200K. Exactly where a prospective employee will be paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, the candidate’s depth of experience and qualifications in relation to the job description and the actual job duties of the role. In addition to salary, we also offer comprehensive benefits (covering 100% medical, dental, vision and offer open PTO, and more). The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles to find the right candidate for Zambezi.
