This is a senior-level position responsible for developing and leading our finance and accounting team. We are looking for an experienced professional to help us grow!

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have the following qualifications.

  • Education: The equivalent of a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field, MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a Controller or similar role including human resource responsibilities.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, law firm fiscal management, financial regulations, and human resource management.

REQUIRED SKILLS: This position requires the following skills:

  • Fiscal Analysis and Control:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial statements.
  • Understanding of financial controls and cash management.
  • Technology:
  • High degree of proficiency in financial software, especially legal billing, accounting, and merchant service systems
  • Experience using payroll systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office Suite.
  • Leadership and Management:
  • Ability to build and develop a team to support the accounting and financial functions of a growing business.
  • Strong skills in project management, team building, staff supervision, and contract management.
  • Communication:
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in English, through spoken and written word
  • Strong understanding of the legal landscape and the ability to communicate effectively with legal professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Client Invoicing:
  • Conduct and/or oversee day-to-day client invoicing operations including client credit requests, invoicing, and accounts receivable/collection management.
  • Communicate with clients regarding invoice inquiries and provide timely and accurate responses.
  • Accounts Payable Management
  • Track and manage accounts payable to ensure timely payment and proper handling of firm and client-related expenses.
  • Communicate with vendors as needed to make payment arrangements or negotiate terms.
  • Reporting and Analysis
  • Prepare regular financial reports and analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare accounts receivable, unbilled time, billable time, accounts payable, and other time and billing reports and provide financial insights to the management team that support decision making.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintain organized and accurate billing, accounts payable, and other financial records.
  • Manage Financial Systems:
  • Identify software or process issues, research solutions, document and implement procedures to assure proper operations of accounting and billing systems.
  • Collaborate with other firm members to implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Prepare annual budget and monitor variances.
  • Monitor cashflow and act as needed to maintain a healthy balance while supporting the firm's cash needs.
  • Human Resource Management
  • Coordinate recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and off-boarding processes for the firm.
  • Administer payroll and benefits including regular payroll, incentive pay programs, retirement plan, health insurance reimbursement, paid time off, expense reimbursements, and new benefit plans as they are implemented.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors as necessary.

  • Competitive Compensation: The compensation range is inclusive of base salary and quarterly bonuses, with the opportunity for consistent merit increases. While the full compensation range applies to every hire, base salary will consider the candidate’s education, training, experience, interview/application performance, and work location.
  • Medical/Dental/Vision: The firm offers individual health reimbursements for those enrolled in an individual plan, and health stipends for those enrolled through another’s plan.
  • Salary Range: $60,500 - $75,600

Schedule: This is a full-time position scheduled for Monday through Friday. It requires a strong work ethic and the willingness to work additional hours as needed during key times in the accounting and billing cycle such as the first and last week of each month and year.

Work Location: Candidate may work remotely anywhere in the United States with limited travel.
