OVERALL FUNCTION:
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is responsible for managing all areas relating to accounting and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements (including international subsidiaries). This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger preparation, financial reporting, cash management, as well as financial and collateral audits. This is a full-time exempt position with a salary of $120K - $200K annually.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads accounting operations of the company including A/P, A/R, cash management, inventory accounting, fixed assets, leases, GL, payroll, sales tax and sales reporting, international and intercompany accounting, and tax work.
- Manages the accounting team, ensuring that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manages accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close, ensuring the timely reporting of all financial information in accordance with GAAP.
- Manages daily banking requirements and ensures the monthly and quarterly bank compliance activities and reporting are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborates with the CFO and other department managers to support overall company and department goals and objectives.
- Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Ensures a clean and timely year end consolidation and audit.
- Ensures that proper internal controls are in place and followed.
- Assists in weekly cash disbursements and approvals.
- Manages customer credit limit approvals and periodic review of customer terms.
- Provides back up to Payroll as needed.
- Provides hands-on management and training to new and existing staff.
- Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitors and advises on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Maintains strong contact and relationships with senior-level staff, ensuring strong interpersonal communication both in writing and in person.
- Supports CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, very detail-oriented, responsive, operationally focused, and a good cross-functional business partner.
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA desired.
- 10-12 years of prior supervisory experience in operational accounting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience in manufacturing accounting and knowledge of inventory management preferred.
