Modern Hydrogen is a Seattle-based cleantech startup.  We decarbonize natural gas into clean hydrogen at the point of use. Modern Hydrogen has an immediate opening for a Controller. The Controller will lead the definition, development, and implementation of high impact processes such as inventory, purchasing, revenue recognition, and process control. You will have the unique opportunity to lead an accounting team in a series raise company and establish processes that will enable subsequent successful fundraising rounds. 

This is a hybrid role. The Controller will be required to work on-site in our facility in Bothell, WA 3+ days per week.

Responsibilities:  

• Develop, lead, and further establish the entire accounting function at Modern Hydrogen. 
• Financial reporting: primarily responsible for producing accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.    
• Accounting management: oversee the accounting department's operations, including the management of accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.  Lead month-end/year-end close process.  
• Monitor adherence to the budget, report any variances.  
• Regulatory compliance and taxation: responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all local, state, and federal tax laws and filing requirements.  
• Internal controls.  
• Audit: help with the audit and implement any fixes to significant deficiencies or material weaknesses of the audit.  
• Lead the accounting team.  
• Implement inventory controls and processes.  
• Implement revenue recognition policies.  
• Other duties as assigned.  

Skills and Experience: 

• CPA required. 
• Standard controller/accounting manager background – preferred big 4 experience or other significant accounting experience.   
• 8+ years of applicable work experience.  
• Prior people management experience is required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

• Salary range is $140,000 - $220,000/year.
