Job Summary and Qualifications

The Controller oversees the day-to-day functions of the Accounting Department. In addition, the Controller ensures the hospital maintains compliance with HCA accounting policy guides and Sarbanes-Oxley 404 hospital key controls as defined by HCA Corporate. The Controller is also responsible for performing special projects as directed by the CFO and other Administrative staff.

What you will do in this role:

• In this role, you will oversee the day to day functions of the accounting department
• You will be responsible for organizing, directing and supervising accounting staff
• You will oversee the staff orientation, education and competency programs
• You will handle the month end closings and both internal and external audits
• Your role will ensure financial information and financial reports are consistent with corporate policy and GAAP
• You will handle coordination of departmental performance and quality programs
• You will review and assist with the preparation of external reports, including CMS, state, federal and local authorities. 

What qualifications you will need:

• BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance Required, CPA designation preferred
• Minimum of 3 years experience in healthcare accounting prefered
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, database software and other financial systems
• Good communication skills, both oral and written
• Some weekend hours will be required depending on special projects and month-end close schedule
