Controller

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller in our Property Management Division to oversee our fiscal operations in adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in orchestrating external and internal audits, ensuring financial compliance and integrity. They will present regular financial updates to senior management, providing insight and recommendations. Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements for investors.

• Generate monthly financial reports, conducting in-depth analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Develop quarterly projections, monthly costing, and margin analyses to optimize financial performance.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliation to maintain accuracy and transparency.
• Spearhead the creation and management of financial and capital budgets
• Develop and maintain asset and real estate schedules to support overall financial planning
• Provide leadership to the accounting group, guiding staff accountants, clerks, and A/P
• Set the direction for the team ensuring a cohesive and efficient working environment.

Education:

• B.A. degree in Accounting or Finance
• Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting - Preferred

Certifications:

• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) – Preferred
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Preferred

Experience:

• 10 years experience in multi-family Property Management, five of which in the affordable sector.
• Familiarity with Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requirements
• Must have experience with Tax Credits
• Must have experience with YARDI Accounting Software
