Position Title: Controller
Position Reports to: Director of Accounting and Business Administration, National Builder Group LLC
Supervises: Assistant Controller, Senior Accountants
Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university. CPA preferred.
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Career Level: Manager (exempt)
Salary: $90K - $110K DOE

Role: The Controller position is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions for approximately 20-30 entities including timely and accurate financial reporting, tax return preparation oversight, accounting operations, loan covenants requirements, safeguarding the company’s assets (e.g. insurance). This position is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of all financial information and establishing, implementing and documenting accounting procedures and controls.
As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these include general accounting duties, account analysis, account reconciliation, and participation in all audits. This position requires the ability to maintain the strictest of confidentiality regarding any/all financial and personnel matters. Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Manage and develop NBG Accounting and Administrative support team and ensure they manage the accounting needs for all NBG building companies
- Manage construction draws and bill payments for all NBG Companies
- Manage Insurance needs for All NBG Companies
- Prepare annual budget templates for owner-operators to use for annual forecasts
- Manage the review and closing process for all lot acquisitions
- Present accurate & timely financial statements
- Identify & report other important financial metrics
- Manage onboarding process for new owner-operators
- Establish adequate internal controls to safeguard company resources
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent.
- Active CPA License preferred.
- Minimum 5 years construction experience.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP with respect to homebuilding.
- Experience reviewing tax returns (Partnerships – Form 1065) at a high level.
- Ability to work with all levels of management.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
