Job Description:
The Control Tower Engineer is responsible for reviewing and bucketing targeted 4-12 Month in Service claims and defining 24 Months in Service (MIS) CPV problems for the extended team to resolve (Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier, Service Operations, etc). The individual should possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing, quality and serviceability landscape.
Job duties include but not limited to
· Monthly review of Slice tool for top spend/Cost Per Vehicle (CPV) LOPs
· Review and bucket 4-12 MIS North America (NA) claims to identify common problems for current Model Year
· Analyze and stratify warranty data/claims/narratives (e.g warranty trend charts, Pareto of issues by various parameters, etc).
· Coordinate shipment of returned parts as requested (supplier, engineering, & manufacturing)
o Support part return analysis and teardown of warranty returns
o Generate part retentions
o Create WiAdvisor/Supplier Engagement Team projects to flag vehicles in the field for investigation prior to repairs
o Fast track part returns for special studies
· Create new GIMs scoped to a clearly defined problem (i.e. product, service, or cost of repair)
· Triage new GIMs to determine and assign to Issue Manager (i.e. Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Operations, Service, etc)
· Improve Cost/Repair - Optimize Service Labor, Diagnostics, Pricing, Service Level, Remanufactured Parts by working with responsible organizations.
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor degree in Engineering or technical field.
· A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with triaging/defining problems
· Previous experience in Engineering, Quality, Service or Manufacturing
· Cross functional experience
· Ability to interpret complex data and compile in reportable manner
· Working knowledge in MS office suite and Google applications
· Certification in problem analysis (i.e. Kempner Tregoe)
