Position Overview
The Control Room Operator will be responsible for monitoring and controlling the equipment for a DOT regulated pipeline as well as a railcar loading facility.
Major Objectives:
- Monitor the DAPL pipeline / crude holding tanks and railcar loading systems and computers from a Control Room environment and respond to warning devices as necessary
- Operate the PLC equipment used to manage the DAPL pipeline /holding tanks, unload the trucks and load the railcars from the Control Room
- Work with the operations crew members and maintenance team to see their objectives are met ad the facility functions as designed
Key Responsibilities & Objectives:
- Become knowledgeable of all aspects of the operation (including unloading trucks, unloading rail cars, safety, fire prevention, maintenance) and how they function to achieve goals of the operation
- Partner with the Customer Service Coordinators in scheduling the input and output of crude through the system
- Participate in the company safety team, and build Savage's Culture of Safety
- Keep the Control Room and facility clean and organize
- Support other areas of operation, as deemed by the Maintenance Manager, even in areas outside typical Control Room Operator duties
- May be called upon to assist loading and unloading operators in their duties
Organization Issues
- Member of the Rail Solutions Group, Safe Handling Business Unit
- Provides support to other areas of the operations including operators, maintenance and customer service
Physical and Environmental Issues:
- Willing to live and/or relocate to western North Dakota
- Will alternate between sitting and standing for extended periods of time
- Because we are a 24/7 facility, a control operator may be asked to work a day or night shift
Skills/Qualifications:
- Previous experience operating in a control environment strongly preferred.
- Preference will be given to a person who understands the control philosophy and sequence of operation
- Familiar with the PLC and fire system operator interface software utilized by the operation preferred
- Railroad operation experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills: written and spoken; excellent organizational skills & multi-tasking
- Experience working in petrochemical industry preferred
