Form of workWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working, and motivated contractor for a six-month minimum assignment that can help us drive early-stage projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in bacterial expression and Protein Biochemistry, ideally hands-on experience with small molecule drug discovery. This role will contribute to the growth of Belharra's research portfolio through the production of high value target proteins to enable biophysics, high-throughput screening, and general assay development.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Express and purify protein targets to support small molecule drug discovery
- Perform standard protein QC, including SDS-PAGE, analytical SEC, and intact mass spectrometry
- Analyze and document data using ELN and various technique-specific software
- Communicate ideas and results to various internal and external teams
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TEAM
- Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field with at least one year of industry experience.
- Experience with bacterial expressions systems and standard molecular biology techniques
- Experience with protein purification using an AKTA system and protein characterization using HPLC (analytical SEC), SDS-PAGE, and mass spectrometry
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to coordinate activities across different programs.
- Experience with biophysical techniques (SPR, DSF, AS-MS, etc.) is a plus
