Description
We're seeking a detail-oriented contractor to join our team as a Production Assistant. This critical role involves meticulous quality control of our podcast episodes and video content, ensuring flawless execution from final checks to publication. This workflow includes cleaning up written transcripts, listening to fully-produced podcast episodes, flagging any issues to producers and audio engineers, and uploading/scheduling to our distribution platform.
Ideal candidates should have a background in working with media content and a deep appreciation for details and organization. This role requires a solution-oriented mindset.
This role will sit on our Production team and report to our Head of Content Operations, while partnering closely and with further oversight from our Production Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with project producers and stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality digital content (podcasts and video)
- Conduct the final quality check before publishing, maintaining uncompromising standards of excellence
- Upload episode and copy to our publishing platform.
- Clean up and/or create transcripts for podcast episodes to be used for the web
- Display a proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving alongside producers and audio engineers, addressing any issues or discrepancies identified during quality checks
Requirements
- 1-2+ years of demonstrated experience in media content management, particularly in audio and video production
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, coupled with a strong sense of organization and attention to detail
- Proficiency in time management and multitasking, capable of handling multiple tasks within a flexible and adaptable schedule
- A quick and enthusiastic learner with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing a media hosting platform e.g. Art19, Soundcloud or YouTube
- Experience with structured media file management using platforms like Google Drive, or Dropbox
- Prior experience in managing content in WordPress and HubSpot
This is a minimum 20-hour-per-week commitment, on Mondays and Wednesdays, to ensure timely attention to episode readiness. Please note that this schedule is subject to change with planned new show production ramping up and may require evening hours, but additional days are currently unknown.

We are headquartered and have an office in NYC but the team is distributed around the country so unless you need to be in an office with your colleagues, we are open to hiring anywhere in the US. This is a contract position (minimum 20 hours weekly) with the option to work remotely, and the potential to transition to full-time for the right candidate.
