THE ORGANIZATION:
Operation Access is a nonprofit organization that partners with medical providers to donate surgical and specialty care to uninsured people. We advance health care equity for people facing barriers to care, including many immigrants. We are growing from a 9-county service footprint in the San Francisco Bay Area to a region of at least 24 northern California counties. The organizational culture is rooted in collaboration, distributed leadership, and celebration.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Provides in-person interpretation services to LEP patients in Santa Clara County, San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Alameda, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Lake, San Joaquin, and Stanislaus. Travel will be required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide on-site interpretation to LEP patients and their providers at doctor’s offices and surgical facilities.
· Operation Access case managers will ask if you are available for specific assignments.
· Contact Operation Access case managers for any patient/provider-related logistical information and to communicate the outcome of appointments.
· Act as an ambassador for Operation Access with our providers and patients.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Fluency in Spanish and English
· Medical Interpreter Certification ID number
· Documentation of your latest immunization records
· Workers’ comp insurance or complete a workers’ comp waiver if you do not have insurance
· Resides in California
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Obtain your business license with an EIN
· Certificate of liability insurance
· 1-3 years of work experience in healthcare or a related field
· Knowledge of local health care organizations
· Experience with medical interpretation and knowledge of medical terminology
· Resides in the community being served through this position
