Job description

This exciting position is created to provide students of Lean Systems Engineering Technology with opportunities to apply their gathered knowledge in a real-world manufacturing environment. Ideally, the candidate will spend 6 months working together with ifm’s collaborative and innovative manufacturing team. The candidate will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in different areas of manufacturing and complete tasks that will have a lasting, positive effects on ifm’s production processes. This is a full-time position that starts during the summer break and continues through the fall semester.

Our site designs and manufactures temperature and flow sensor products.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Familiarization with existing processes and implementation of Lean Methodologies into existing production process.
  • Effectively solve problems using root cause problem solving strategies.
  • Design and implementation of new workflow procedures into existing production lines.
  • Design and construction of appropriate tools and fixtures to support the implementation of new lean production process.
  • Identify and introduce new technology into production to make all operations “effortless and guaranteed”. 
  • Develop solutions to integrate manufacturing processes with Industry 4.0 strategies. 
  • Lead workshops to introduce operators to new processes and technology.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Enrolment and active participation in Lean Systems Engineering Technology courses of study.
  • A desire to work hands-on in plant with equipment and products.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of the Toyota Production System.
  • Passionate about learning and making a difference by using lean manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team.
  • Ability to manipulate 3D models for the purpose of identifying building layout and process flows.
