ATL26 (Channel 26) is the City of Atlanta’s 24-hour leading resource for government news and information and a vital part of the Mayor’s Office of Communications. ATL26 produces award-winning content highlighting Mayor Andre Dickens and his administration’s #MovingAtlantaFoward initiatives. The channel also provides live broadcasts and rebroadcasts of all City Council meetings, other public meetings, press conferences and events.

We’re looking for an exceptional storyteller/writer/producer who creates engaging content our viewers can’t resist watching and sharing. Official position title: Multimedia Producer.

About The Role:

The Multimedia Producer is a skillful multitasker who can tell impactful stories easily switch gears to broadcast live from a Mayoral press conference and then quickly slide into the director’s chair to pull up lower-third graphics for a City Council meeting.

The Multimedia Producer will collaborate with the Mayor’s Office of Communications and city departments to engage in civic storytelling and produce content showcasing the City of Atlanta’s services, programs, and features.

This position is cross trained to support ATL26 production operations including directing live broadcasts of the City’s meetings and events, and programming content on the channel.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Multimedia Producer, you’d rather be capturing cool city events than sitting behind a desk. You truly think outside the box and embrace opportunities to innovate and grow.

· Enterprise, interview, report, shoot, edit and distribute content for broadcast and social media platforms.

· Coordinate with city departments to write, shoot and produce PSAs and other videos utilizing motion graphics, text, music, and other elements. Voice PSAs, packages and promos.

· Collaborate with the Mayor’s Office of Communications (MOC) on live coverage including press conferences, meetings, and events.

· Direct live broadcasts and assist with AV needs for city meetings and events.

· Produce, shoot, and edit weekly Mayor Recordings.

· Assist MOC and City Council staff with special assignments.

· Work to increase engagement and subscribers on ATL26 social media platforms.

· Build relationships and contacts with other departments to find valuable news stories and content ideas.

· Creatively implement new styles of content and civic storytelling.

· Ensure all content meets ATL26 style and integrity standards.

· Maintain production equipment.

· Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring To ATL26:

Required Qualifications

  • A self-starter attitude with a collaborative spirit.
  • Strong editorial judgment.
  • Live broadcast reporting experience.
  • You take pride in your work, and it shows through compelling storytelling, and exceptional videography and editing skills.
  • Ability to receive feedback, and a commitment to deadlines and timelines.
  • Help maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Proficient with a variety of cameras, including Sony PXW-X320 and Panasonic in-studio and field units.
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Creative Cloud Suite, and After Effects.
  • Working knowledge of control room operations and production technologies including LiveU, and audio visual equipment.
  • Capable of directing live broadcasts and digital programs including live punching of camera and effects sources via a video switcher.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and nights. Occasional weekend work may be required.
  • Must be able to lift and set up equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Education:

  • 5+ years of broadcast or journalism experience, including on-air presence. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
