Essential Duties
1. Serve as content lead for all digital strategy team projects, including handling writing tasks and content prep work for our websites and digital products. 2. Write engaging, web-friendly copy and seek opportunities to incorporate photos, videos, audio, and other dynamic content to amplify our storytelling. 3. Manage all content updates on the university's "front-door" website at Yale.edu, including planning and producing homepage features, handling regular content audits, and updating site areas as needed. 4. Monitor OPAC's websites for content quality assurance, flagging accessibility issues, and proofing copy as needed. 5. Perform content inventories and develop sitemaps outlining navigation and content buckets. 6. Work with the Director of Audience Insights to track and analyze usage patterns to help shape content strategy for new and existing websites. 7. Coordinate with Editorial and other teams within OPAC to ensure consistency in tone of voice and adherence to editorial style and standards. 8. Identify areas of opportunity on our current websites for rewrites and content enhancements on an ongoing basis and during redesign projects. 9. Advise colleagues and clients on content best practices, serving on redesign committees, presenting at meetings, and joining university working groups when relevant.

Position Focus:
The Office of Public Affairs and Communications (OPAC) is the central organization at Yale responsible for coordinating and managing campus-wide news, information, and stories, as well as stewarding institutional communications, reputation management, and crisis communications. OPAC serves as the official voice of Yale University.
We are seeking a talented storyteller and Strategist to join our digital strategy team. Reporting to the Associate Director for Digital Strategy & Design, the Content Producer & Strategist is responsible for overseeing and crafting content features, messaging, labeling, and navigation schemes for our websites and digital products. The ideal candidate has a combination of outstanding online editorial experience, a strong digital design sensibility, and a creative, strategic mindset with expertise in translating complex needs into approachable, user-centered solutions. While this role does not require deep technical expertise, it does call for an understanding of web best practices, accessibility, and UX principles, as well as experience working in content management systems and familiarity with basic HTML.
The Content Producer and Strategist plays a central role on our digital strategy team, taking charge of all content-related responsibilities for the team's projects. Their primary responsibilities involve crafting engaging, web-friendly content that aligns with our overall strategy. They're adept at incorporating various media formats to enhance storytelling, seeking creative uses of imagery, video, audio, and infographics. They also manage content updates on our flagship site, Yale.edu, including producing homepage features and conducting regular audits.
The Content Producer and Strategist ensures the highest level of quality across our content, addressing accessibility issues and handling proofreading tasks. They also develop sitemaps to document website navigation approaches and collaborate with the Director of Audience Insights to analyze user behavior. They maintain consistency in tone of voice across our digital platforms and identify areas for content improvement, contributing to a fresh and engaging online presence.
The Content Producer and Strategist supports colleagues and clients by offering content best practices, participating in redesign initiatives, and joining relevant university working groups.
Candidates must include samples of previous work.
Candidates should have strong skills in collaboration, client management, and verbal communication.
This position is "Hybrid"- 2 Days on-site/week
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Expertise in SEO. Experience producing sitemaps and other content strategy and IA documentation. Experience working in a higher education or large nonprofit setting.

Required Skill/Ability 2:
Demonstrated ability creating and managing content for websites, social media channels, or other digital products and channels with a basic understanding of HTML.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Demonstrated ability tracking and synthesizing analytics data. Demonstrated ability working in Drupal or similar CMS. Demonstrated ability using Adobe Creative suite or similar software.
