As a Content Marketing Associate, you are methodical and able to see the big picture. You are creative but also scientific and organized. The Content Marketing Associate, reporting to the Content Marketing Manager, will work on a variety of Content Marketing assignments related to SEO-driven Content Marketing. You are familiar with consumer marketing research and are skilled at content development that includes strong messaging and effective supporting copy. Your job is to articulate the why, where, who, what, and how of Content Marketing, enhancing the functionality of our clients’ websites.


An ideal candidate would have an intellectual curiosity for advertising, experience managing multiple clients and campaigns concurrently, a commitment to client performance, and a great sense of humor!


The Content Marketing Associate will be responsible for meeting deadlines, producing quality content, and working with High Level Marketing’s internal systems to indicate when projects have been started, are in process, and are completed. The perfect candidate for this job has the perfect balance of creativity paired with analytical thinking.


To be successful in this position, you should have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and a strong foundation of SEO knowledge as it pertains to content development.


Responsibilities

  • Write and publish website copy for entire websites and landing pages
  • Rewrite existing content for a website refresh
  • Work closely with other members of the Content team to incorporate SEO goals into rich website content
  • Conducting keyword research using dedicated software and generating keyword ideas
  • Use keyword research and other industry research to communicate content plans with various blog writers.
  • Work with various blog writers to align deadlines, review content calendars & briefs, and proofread content providing edits where necessary.
  • Cross-train with other members of the Content team to work as a backup as needed.
  • Maintain familiarity with the latest developments in Search Engine Optimization, content trends, and consumer behavior.
  • Experience in working with or maintaining a calendar of project deadlines and content launch dates
  • Attend and participate in client kickoff meetings as needed to gain an understanding of the tone and goal of the website content needed to be created.
  • Proof content that has been written by other team members
  • Partner with the internal Sales and Customer Service teams to ensure alignment on client accounts and provide status on content delivery deadlines
  • Strive to learn SEO keyword strategies and selection process.
  • Understand basic reporting metrics and platforms including footprint.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the latest developments in Search Engine Optimization, content trends, and consumer behavior
  • Familiarity with third-party enterprise SEO tools (e.g., SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, etc.)
  • The ability to work cross-platform in multiple CMS environments with a focus on WordPress & Similar platforms
  • Spreadsheet programs (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) to gather SEO insights and augment client reporting capabilities - Macros, Automation, IFTTT, or similar integrations a plus
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Experience in working with or maintaining a calendar of project deadlines and content launch dates
  • Understanding of why some content works and some doesn't
  • High level of writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • A collaborative & proactive team player

Preferred Qualifications

  • An Associates degree in Communications, Marketing, English Literature, Journalism, or a related field is a plus.
  • SEO experience.
  • Content Marketing
    • 1 -3 years of experience writing website content, blog articles, working in digital marketing (including copywriting), and experience with SEO Content Optimizations
