Job Description: 6 Month Contract Gig
The Content Developer (Contract) leads all creative content development supporting all business lines. Delegates output based on need to full time staff and/or freelance contingent on budget, program timing, expertise, etc. While focus is mainly on instructional design including web-based trainings (WBT’s), storyboards, scripting, course content creation, toolbox creation, etc. as is the majority of the current rpc business, the Content Developer will also manage development of program support assets including proposals to New Accounts and rpc marketing content. Flexibility in terms of content as rpc supports a wide variety of clients in industries ranging from telecom to automotive. Time management, positive attitude, excellent communication/expectation setting skills and being proactively engaged is critical to the success of this role.
This position reports directly to the Director of Operations, but may also receive direction from other rpc project leads as based on urgency and prioritized needs.
Responsibilities Include:
1. Listening creatively and actively to rpc internal creative needs as well as client needs to personally create or manage the creation of engaging learning activities, compelling training course content, sales / marketing / business development assets or other creative elements
2. Listening to and understanding client needs either directly or from his/her lead, and prescribing the ideal solution for target audience’s needs
3. Working with clients and subject matter experts directly when required
4. Applying tested design theories, practice and methods including adult learning concepts
5. Conducting research and analysis on learners and contexts
6. Ensuring ideal content – ex: well-thought-out exercises and hands-on, interactive activities that enhance the learning process
7. Brainstorming, scoping, and creation of project support assets & processes (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc) and working with the proper expert(s) to produce quality content
8. Maintaining project documentation, timelines, and course materials in an organized manner
9. Ensuring budgets are understood and adhered to by way of communication and management
Core Competencies:
Skilled in learning development content creation with successful training program application in corporate, retail, hospitality, or other major industries. Also experienced in marketing asset creation and proposal content creation.
Detail-oriented multi-tasker who has great communication skills and can easily adapt to changing circumstances. Equipped with a “don’t give up” attitude, dedicated attention to detail and finish, especially when facing resistance or when faced with a challenging opportunity, this candidate knows who to ask for help, how to give and receive feedback and isn’t afraid to do so.
In addition to these traits, we are looking for candidates that also have the following skills:
- Proven working experience in instructional design for Instructor Led and Web-Based training
- Proven working experience in creative output including graphic creation, marketing content.
- Strong ability to communicate with excellence.
- Excellent knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills
- Ability to storyboard (Visual design skills such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator ideal)
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
- BS degree in English, journalism, instructional design, educational technology or similar
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Able to articulate concepts and ideas

Work Environment:
This position operates remotely. When in an office environment, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and email. The candidate for this position is required to provide the equipment necessary to fulfill the role during this 6 month contract gig.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:
This is a contract position with expected hours of ~40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel:
Some travel may be required for this position, but will be limited based on Client needs.
