Contamination Control monitors, controls, and reduces air and surface contamination of the wafer and fab environment to protect and improve product quality. A Contamination Control Process Engineer is primarily responsible for applying knowledge of surface and air particulate, metallic, and airborne molecular contamination (AMC), as well as semiconductor process technology, analytical chemistry, instrumentation (i.e., mass spectrometry), and sampling theory, to maintain fab environment integrity and drive wafer quality improvements. This role will involve evaluation, selection, maintenance, and calibration of analytical equipment to monitor contamination that enables expansion and improvement of our cleanroom and wafer environment real-time monitoring systems to identify contamination issues. Resolving these issues by applying failure analysis, FMEA, 8D or SPC/FDC methodology. Additionally, this role includes recommending and performing testing on materials and non-process chemicals that enter the cleanroom, as well as designing tests to predict contamination challenges. Contamination Control works closely with other process areas to solve complex contamination issues as well as leading and participating in yield improvement and cost optimization activities, handling new process baseline qualifications, and managing, auditing and collaborating with material suppliers to achieve quality, cost and risk mitigation objectives.
