A Northern Michigan (Upper Peninsula) Construction Project is in need of a Construction Quality and Safety Manager for approximately 6 months, or until the project is complete. This is a direct-hire opportunity and involves the construction and expansion of a public building. The Site Quality Manager will have the responsibility and authority to direct work performed for each project in accordance with the statement of work. This position is also directly responsible for the management of the quality of the in-field installation as it relates to the work plans, health and safety plans, and QA/QC plans. Hours are from 7:00am - 3:30pm Monday-Friday. Employee must relocate to the area of the project, but will have assistance in locating temporary housing for the duration. Per diem is also available to defray expenses: $59/day for food, $107/day for living expenses, in addition to an annual projected salary of $100-120K.
***Ideal candidate should possess a 4-year college degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience with U.S. federal government construction projects, USACE Quality Control training, and have acted as sole QC Manager on past projects.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates field activities with the Superintendent and Project Manager including look-ahead forecasts.
- Manages on-site operations related to Safety and Quality on day-to-day biases.
- Review projected work, work in place, and project submittals for adherence to customer requirements.
- Accepts/approves materials and supplies.
- Completes As-built records.
- Identify the scope, schedule, and cost impact of change orders, including the preparation of Requests for Information.
- Comprehension of Construction Drawings and Specifications.
- Strict adherence to schedules and job site rules and requirements.
Skills:
- Computer Skills: MS Excel, Word, Outlook
- Proven ability to finish work on time and with a high level of quality.
Qualifications:
- 4-year college degree
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with U.S. federal government construction projects.
- USACE Quality control training
- Acted as sole QC Manager on past projects.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with multi-discipline/trade work
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in design/build projects
- CPR/First Aid
- OSHA 30
