MEP Superintendent needed to support the General Superintendent and/or the Project Manager for ensuring that project plans, specifications, and procedures are followed in the field in regard to quality, and overall client satisfaction. The MEP Superintendent will be responsible for managing the project’s MEP construction activities to meet specifications within budgeted cost by the scheduled completion date. Project located in Ithaca, NY.
Overall responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the campus all utility tie-in’s and switch overs.
- Conduct technical review of all MEP submittals.
- Oversee MEP project closeout and ensure all project requirements are met.
- Coordinate and schedule all required MEP jurisdictional inspections.
- Inspect the quality of work for compliance with design standards and ensure corrective action occurs if/when necessary.
- Directly coordinate field conditions with Owner, Architect, MEP Engineers, CM Project Manager, and General Superintendent
- Assist in review and approval of monthly requisitions
- Review validity and accuracy of proposed change orders
- Review logistics and phasing plans with General Superintendent
- Oversee all required levels of commissioning.
- Enforce safety requirements and protocols.
Education and Experience:
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management or related degree
- Over 5 years’ experience in educational construction experience concentrated in MEP work combination of education and experience.
- Proficient with reading, understanding, and interpreting plans, specifications, drawings, contracts, and other documents pertaining to MEP aspects of projects.
- Strong knowledge of gas installations, codes, high and low-voltage systems.
- Working knowledge of MS Office suites and construction management software, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and BlueBeam.
- Familiarity with Procore or other web-based or mobile document controls and project management solutions. Ability to communicate from the job site using a tablet.
