Constuction Laborer

Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of general manual labor tasks, including, but not limited to, lifting and moving materials, loading and unloading vehicles, digging and refilling holes, and other activities in a helping or assisting mode.
Job Duties:
Assists in training, assigning, and checking the work of lower-level employees. Often designated lead worker. Duties may include cleaning and preparing a job site, loading and delivering materials and using a variety of tools and machines, such as blowtorches, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers and water spraying equipment. May be responsible for setting up and taking down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structures.
Experience and Education:
Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor. Typically requires a high school diploma and 4 to 6 years of experience. Reports to: Typically reports to a department head or manager.
Competencies:
Physical stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift/move heavy objects. Ability to understand and follow directions. Leadership skills.
