Position Summary
Inspect the work of contractors on a variety of construction relative to assigned area of responsibility including, but not limited to, traffic control, streets, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, driveway pads, water, wastewater, sewer and storm drainage projects; ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contracts and ordinances; and maintain records and prepare reports on projects inspected. This is the full journey level class within the Construction Inspector series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Construction Inspector I by the inspection of contract construction projects within a variety of areas including streets, concrete, buildings, wastewater, utilities, drainage and traffic control. Employees at this level receive instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Construction Inspector III in that the latter exercises functional and technical lead over lower level inspection staff and perform the most difficult and complex duties.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in building and construction trades, or engineering; and
Three (3) years of construction or construction inspection experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
