Job Description
Our Quarry Design and Development team is seeking a Construction Engineer. This individual will scope, develop, and lead projects from concepts to fully operational facilities and site layouts, ensuring that plans, equipment, and contractors are available on schedule and that projects meet operational and cost goals.Includes managing projects for internal customers, providing consulting input on problem solutions, assisting in the permitting and approval process, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop and lead projects from concepts to fully operational facilities. Project manage the work to ensure that the project meets all budget, schedule, and performance expectations.Track and communicate project budget, schedule, and changes. Projects can include:
- Erosion and Sediment Control design and installation
- Asphalt and concrete paving
- Installation of culverts, wheel washes, fueling facilities, etc.
- Permitting with local, state, and federal agencies and utility providers
- Work with internal customers and other engineering and operational support associates to scope and develop project concepts and produce project designs.Ensure that designs meet all applicable regulatory requirements.Assist with permitting and approval.
- Lead and manage contractors and engineering consultants to achieve project objectives.Develop and maintain strong relationships with key contractors and consultants.
- Will also assist withstate mine permitting efforts in all states where we operate.Develop new mine permit applications, which will often include working with and managing consultants.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Construction Engineering or Construction Management
Work Experience: Minimum 5 + years full time Construction Engineering experience
Certifications: PE a plus
Ability to travel approximately 20%.Travel includes in state day trips as well as site visits throughout our South East region.
Technical Competencies:
- Computer Skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- AutoCAD, GIS, Microsoft Project
- Ability to incorporate relevant federal, state, and local regulations into designs
- Understanding of various survey methods including total station, GPS, and UAVs
- Ability to design and execute utility systems, E&S structures, grading plans, and large scale earth moving projects
ENVIRONMENT OR PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work with frequent exposure to dirty and dusty conditions.
