The Conservation Landscape Senior Technician works with the Conservation Landscape Specialist and others to implement sustainable landscape practices throughout Columbia Association Open Space, natural areas, facilities, and Community Operations sites under the direction of the Conservation Landscape Specialist. The Conservation Landscape Senior Technician is knowledgeable about invasive plant management, habitat restoration, and reforestation. The Conservation Landscape Senior Technician will participate in implementing such projects and/or lead small groups in this work and can proficiently operate equipment and tools commonly used in such projects. They are knowledgeable about native plants, non-native invasive plants, and sustainable landscape practices. The Conservation Landscape Senior Technician can effectively communicate with coworkers, contractors, residents, and outside stakeholders. In the absence of the immediate supervisor, the Conservation Landscape Senior Technician will function as the leader of other team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with, or knowledge of, native plants and sustainable landscape practices.
- Maryland Pest Applicator’s Certificate or ability to obtain within first year of employment.
- DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
- 18 years old or older.
- Maryland driver's license(Class C)
5 years of experience with invasive plant control, forestry, biological sciences, natural resources, landscaping, or a related field -or- a professional certificate, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in a related field -or- a combination of both education and experience totaling 5 years
Physical demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb for extended periods of time.
- Lifting to 50 pounds unassisted for short periods of time
- Must be able to work outside under any kind of weather conditions.
- Able to push or pull loads of 75 pounds.
