Department Summary

University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.
This position works in support of the University Health Services mission and vision and is consistent with UO policy. Some aspects of this position may be completed in collaboration with other University departments.

Position Summary

The health information technology department supports all departments within University Health and Counseling Services and their technology needs, supporting a wide range of applications and systems, including deskside support for 150+ staff members, hardware/software, networks, servers, and electronic health records (EHRs) for general medical, psychiatry, radiology, laboratory, dental, physical therapy, and counseling.
The Computer Support Specialist/Assistant is part of the UHS Health Information Technology Team working with the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Team to provide computer and EHR support services, assistance, and technology expertise for the Health and Counseling Services staff. The position works under the general direction of the Health Information Technology Manager. Depending on the experience and knowledge of the applicant, they will be placed into one of the levels below:
Computer Support Specialist (ITC2 Classification):
This level provides and supports the direct consultative and technical support and training of clinical and administrative staff, in the areas of workstations, software applications, printers, peripherals, and the EHR software.
This level is responsible for making independent decisions and/or formal recommendations to the Health Information Technology Manager regarding computer hardware, software, and computer infrastructure issues. This level will also provide support in the management of systems administration support including, but not limited to, server administration and Windows client deployment and patching. A general knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy is a requirement for this position.
Computer Support Assistant (ITC3 Classification):
One focus and responsibility of this level is to evaluate, plan, test, and implement new projects and system improvements for the medical electronic health record, laboratory information system, and ancillary departments, with a strong emphasis on the interfacing of these data systems.
The second focus is on systems administration support including, but not limited to, server deployment and administration, Windows client deployment and patching, virtualization management, and system backups and replication. Exhibiting robust knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy design, and modifications is a requirement for this level.
This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition, employees must comply with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles, and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.
Work Schedule:
This position may require work, at times, on weekends and/or holidays.

Minimum Requirements

This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Computer Support Specialist (ITC2):
Experience supporting Windows desktop and server operating systems in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
Experience using IT ticketing/project management tools.
Experience supporting computer management and software deployment using such tools as Active Directory group policy, Microsoft SCCM/MECM, and/or Microsoft PowerShell.
Experience using and providing support for Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
Experience working in a clinical environment.
Experience with Electronic Health Record systems.
Computer Support Assistant (ITC3):
Experience configuring and deploying Windows desktop and server operating systems in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
Experience deploying, configuring, and using IT ticketing/project management tools.
Experience implementing computer management and software deployment using such tools as Active Directory group policy, Microsoft SCCM/MECM, and/or Microsoft PowerShell.
Experience supporting and administrating Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
Experience working in a clinical environment.
Experience with Electronic Health Record systems.
