The North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network (NDAWN) is seeking a talented Computer Programmer with the necessary tools to succeed in a collaborative Linux development environment with a passion for the agricultural industry. In this role, you will contribute to NDAWN's code base and websites which provides information, analytics, and insight to support decisions within a regional agricultural industry. Together, we will build upon NDAWN's ever expanding weather station network by developing cutting edge solutions to real world agriculture problems through modern analytics. This position is funded with a two-year grant from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture with a possibility of it being extended.

Responsibilities include:
- Communicate with NDAWN and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture team members to identify end-user needs, requirements, and implement solutions.
- Build user-friendly interfaces and dashboards to visualize and present data insights effectively.
- Use developed API as input structure for new designs and guidance tools.
- Write code with modern web technologies (HTML, CSS3, Java script (Front End))
- Assist with integrating newly installed weather stations into the NDAWN platform
- Assist in the modernization of the NDAWN code base.
Work Schedule:
- Primarily Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Advertised Salary:
- $70,000 + depending on experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, a related discipline, or a Formal or Physical Science with associated professional experience in a computational field.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C/C++, Shell Scripting/Bash, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and knowledge of and ability to grow in others
- Proficiency in Linux based systems
- Effective oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a collaborative development environment and associated practices such as version control (git), testing/validation, and effective documenting/commenting
- Familiarity with web development and modern web design (UI/UX)
- Proven ability to be self-motivating and work unsupervised
- Proven ability to be creative in solving problems
- Experience in the GIS, agricultural, and/or meteorological industries
