Job description

Position Summary: The Computer Information Technology teacher creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students through a results oriented Computer Information Technology program.
Qualifications:
Required:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  2. Currently hold or be eligible for a Kansas certificate in respective content area
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of methods of effective instruction
  4. Desire and ability to work with students and staff
  5. A willingness to cooperate with and follow the directions of the school principal
  6. The ability and willingness to communicate with parents
  7. Ability to plan, organize, and see that activities are completed
  8. Proficient in data collection and reporting
  9. Excellent written and oral skills
  10. Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications

Preferred:
  1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  2. Valid Teaching Certificate with applicable level area endorsements.
  3. 5+ years of directly related verifiable experience in Information Technology.

Essential Functions:
  1. Ability to provide formal instruction and leadership for a variety of courses supporting the Web and Digital Pathway and the Programming and Software Pathway.
  2. Ability to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
  1. Ability to establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual
    educational needs of students.
  2. Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.
  3. Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the
    school district and community.
  4. Ability to react to change in an instructional and productive manner, and handle other
    tasks as assigned.
  5. Ability to be mobile in the classroom.
  6. Ability to monitor student achievement and teacher (self) effectiveness, and make
    changes to instruction techniques to improve student achievement.
  7. Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the district.
  8. Ability to work with technology/computer systems.
  9. Ability to supervise, direct, motivate, and correct employee's job performance.
  10. Ability to model commitment and dedication to work.
  11. Ability to work independently and without supervision, and complete work in an efficient manner.

General Responsibilities:
  1. Courses may include Intro to Coding, Computer Animation, E-Sports, Intro to Computer Graphics.
  2. Potential opportunities for Yearbook and Journalism courses.
  3. Potential involvement and collaboration with our Innovation Academy which is a project-based academy focused on competency-based learning and an innovative environment.
  4. Controls the storage and use of school-owned property; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to devices as required.
  5. Maintains an inventory of equipment and materials used.
  6. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  7. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.
  8. Maintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities related to information technologies.
  9. Ensures that all activities conform to district guidelines.
  10. Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community.
  11. Works effectively with community organizations.
  12. Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
  13. Supports the value of education.
  14. Supports the mission and vision of USD #458.
  15. Keeps abreast of new information, best practices, innovative ideas, and techniques.
  16. Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  17. Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or other Administrative Staff.

Physical Requirements: Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in the work environment. Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job is required.
  1. Must occasionally work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous
    interruptions.
    2. Must have physical stamina to maintain job responsibilities.
    3. Requires occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and turning.

Term of Employment: 10 months (187 Days) ; Academic school year as assigned.
Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy.
