Location: San Francisco, CA, USA

• Hybrid work schedule: Able to be in San Francisco office, in-person at least 3 days per week, option to work from home 2 days per week
• Excellent benefits package

• Salary range: $150,000-$190,000 base
• Bonus: up to 20% annual performance bonus

The Vision

The AI (Artificial Intelligence) team aims to provide best-in-class intelligence support across all steps of the investment process, from deal sourcing to exit. The system will function as an additional team member and help augment the investment team to make better investments and build better companies for unmet therapeutic needs. Role Overview:

Join our AI and Data Intelligence team as a Computational Biologist, where you'll leverage your expertise to significantly influence the life sciences sector. In this role, you'll delve into computational bioinformatics, supporting our investment team by providing advanced intelligence on life science innovations. You'll contribute to developing scientific products and tools designed to extract insights and forecasts from diverse and expanding datasets. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in AI-driven projects, gain exposure to leading life science entities, and grow within an expanding team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough analyses of the competitive landscapes encompassing new drugs, methodologies, research tools, diagnostics, and digital health technologies across various disease indications and tech platforms.
• Lead and execute research projects targeting specific disease indications, biological pathways, targets, drugs, patents, etc., to uncover insights that inform investment strategies.
• Collaborate with the technology team to create applications that facilitate the visualization and analysis of biomedical datasets, enhancing research and investment processes.
• Partner with data scientists to harness public and proprietary data, integrating and analyzing information to identify market opportunities and guide investment decisions.
• Develop, update, and manage advanced bioinformatics tools and algorithms to bolster research capabilities.
• Interpret bioinformatics data, generating actionable hypotheses for the investment team to consider.

Position Requirements:

• A PhD or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field, with a profound understanding of biology and a solid foundation in statistics and mathematics.
• 3-5 years of relevant industry experience within the bioinformatics or computational biology sectors.
• Proven track record of applying innovative concepts in a research setting and driving collaborative projects to completion.
• Proficiency in utilizing public bioinformatics databases and tools.
• Experience in analyzing various large-scale biological datasets employing machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and statistical models.
• Skilled in Python with adherence to best practices, including source control (Git), unit testing, and code reviews.
• Knowledgeable in SQL and experienced with data visualization frameworks and tools (e.g., Dash, Angular, Quicksite, Tableau).
• Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
