General description
Join the Account Maintenance team as a Program Supervisor! The Account Maintenance Division is seeking a Supervisor for the Crude Oil and Natural Gas Tax Refunds and Collections section. Work involves establishing program goals and objectives; developing program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving program goals; monitoring and evaluating program activities; developing and evaluating budget requests; and coordinating program activities. The candidate must have the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in a highly active environment with ever-changing circumstances. This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
•Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.
•Four (4) years of experience in accounting or business related field dealing with analytical/problem-solving issues.
•Two (2) years of serving in a leadership role, which may run concurrent with the years of accounting, finance or business dealing with analytical/problem-solving issues experience.
Must be a current CPA employee. Employees must be in a classification with a salary group of B19 and above.
Preferred Qualifications
•Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting or business- related field.
•Two (2) years of experience in tax administration.
Substitutions
One (1) additional year in accounting or business-related field dealing with complex analytical/problem solving issues may substitute for 30 (thirty) hours of the required education, with a maximum of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this role you will:
Knowledge of:
•Comptroller policies and procedures
•State and Federal employment discrimination laws
•Texas taxes.
•tax processing systems.
•calculating tax, penalty, interest and refund amounts.
Skill in:
•using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems; and in operating computers and applicable computer software.
•developing solutions to administrative problems
•monitoring and evaluating annual division business or strategic plans
•performing mathematical calculations
•conducting program analysis studies to develop and recommend solutions to resolve problems, automate, and streamline processing functions.
Ability to:
•work under pressure and meet deadlines.
•represent the division in a variety of meetings and projects.
•analyze staff's work product for accuracy and ensure that employees are cross-trained.
•set production performance standards with employee participation in development plans.
•encourage employees to be focused and productive.
•consistently interpret and explain agency and division policy and procedure with regard to the work assigned.
•shift priorities at a moment's notice to meet critical deadlines and turnaround times.
•act in the best interest of the agency, maintain confidentiality and continually strive to improve self and job performance.
•create an environment that fosters excellent performance by demonstrating a high level of integrity, strong work ethic and commitment to meet deadlines.
•enhance employee performance by motivating, coaching, mentoring and rewarding employees to ensure opportunities for professional growth.
